Page Rank (PR) Google
by Alexander O. (www.webskyguide.com)
A visitor may arrive at a site by different mean - via links from his or her familiar resources, via advertising banners or simply by typing the address from the card.
However, one of the most important channels for visitors is searching systems. If site traffic is important for your website, you should pay attention to two main factors
that influence the website's visiting potential from the point of view of the searching system.
Context. Once the user types a query, the phrase of the query becomes a number of keywords. A searching system robot will find these words in your website texts and
include your website in the list of search results.
Page Rank (PR). PR refers to the number of links to your resource from other websites. With the help of link popularity, the searching system defines how popular your
website is. The position of your website in the search results - at the top or near the bottom - depends on this parameter.
The principle of Page Rank (PR) is the operational basis of most searching systems, though it can differ in a number of other parameters. Let us take the example of
Google to understand this mechanism. Here are the stages of forming the website rating in the system on the basis of a particular query:
- Searching all the pages containing keywords.
- Ranging them on the basis of text parameters (for example, if the keywords appear in the titles, such a website is rated higher).
- Calculated the number of links to the website.
- Corrects the result with Page Rank (one of the criteria of link popularity changes) of each page.
Google's system of link popularity Page Rank (PR) is different from other searching systems. The value of PR is calculated for each page of the website taking into account
the importance of each external link and disregarding the subject. Other searching systems can value, for example, the "popularity" of the whole website considering the
relevance of keywords. The results of Page Rank is called "weighted link popularity," i. e. the level of popularity of the website in comparison with other resources.
Page Rank level can be defined using the Google ToolBar.
It is obvious that, at the moment, even with a well optimized text content where there is high density of keywords, well organized tags are not effective without a
good PR.
How can we solve this problem?
It is helpful to exchange links with other websites concerned with the same subject: their links on your website, and yours on their resources. As well, this strategy is
both appropriate and useful for the visitors. It will also yield good results and bring many visitors to your website.
